The Process of Addiction to Drugs and Alcohol
Through a series of sessions provided to you in the Living in Balance portion of the holistic addiction treatment program at Promises Austin, you will be increasing your knowledge regarding the abuse of addictive substances and the affect that drug and alcohol abuse has had on your life, as well as ways that you can personally work to successfully achieve long-term recovery from your addiction.
The particular session you will now be encouraged to participate in discusses the important aspects involved in planning for sobriety and abstinence from drugs and alcohol. You will have learned that you must act courageously in order to be successful by examining the personal details of your life and the ways that they connect with information provided for you to absorb.
You will have been helped to learn how to recognize addiction triggers and the powerful role they can play in leading you toward relapsing back into your old lifestyle of addiction.
Addiction Recovery: Preparation and Planning
There are most likely going to be high risk scenarios that you will need to be prepared for dealing with in your recovery from an addiction to drugs or alcohol. As you progress in your treatment for addiction, you will come to increasingly understand the ways that an addiction is not an overnight process and in turn, recovery and relapse are both not overnight occurrences that happen, but are rather processes that build up to the point of addiction, recovery or relapse.
The length of time it takes to acquire an addiction to drugs or an addiction to alcohol varies dependent upon the individual, the scenario and the predispositions involved. It can happen much more quickly for some than others and includes a number of small stages and choices made by the individual who eventually ends up suffering from the disease of addiction.
At Promises Austin we realize that you are so much more than just your addiction. For that reason, our supportive, experienced counselors, who regularly help guests from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, California, New York and Florida, will work closely with you to assist you in the process of ending your drug or alcohol dependence.
